Biography

CHAMY SOLANO

Considered as one of the big young values of the current Salsa genre, this talented vocalist born in Brooklyn, New York, of Puerto Rican parents, overturned his enthusiasm for the music when at the age of 11 he was singing in the church choir of the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, where his parents took it to the age of 3.

At age 15, Chamy was feeling that he was ready for an opportunity in a band, and started the search for the right one. By then it was not so easy. He struggled until he found the opportunity singing Salsa, although occasionally he was approach by several groups to perform the genre of "Merenge". Further on offerings arose to work with several bands as the " Conjunto La Perla " and " Roberto Roena and his Apollo Sound " between others.

In 1989 renowned Julito Alvarado, help Chamy by giving him advice in the field of romantic Salsa, making him a demo titled " Herido de Amor " .Tony Vega took charge

presenting Chamy to New York businessman Ralph Mercado. Mercado liked him so much that in two days he traveled to Puerto Rico to extend Chamy a contract for 3 years and with an option of 2 more. His first production for RMM Records, "Atrapado", was received by the public with much enthusiasm.

In Puerto Rico, Chamy Solano, was been able to stand out recording "jingles" with Papo Luca, and did not wasted the opportunity to record with Edgardo Morales the production of " El Rey del Timbal ". After having finished this recording, Chamy decided to establish himself in New York as part of different musical groups up to his meeting with Sal Pérez, who recruits him for his " Orquesta YAREY " in the precise moment Sal was looking for a singer for his Salsa hit ‘ Ponme a Gozar ".

 

SAL PEREZ

Every artist or musical group tries to look for the first recording that places them in the popular clamor, and then the following ones that could support them during the passing of time.

 

The Puerto Rican musician Sal Pérez, established the Orquesta Yarey in the city of New York, where he proposes to begin the consolidation of his group.

Ten years have passed from the organization of YAREY, with four successful recordings. The first one realized under the title "Ahora si", the second one, "El Musico", and the third one "Ponme a Gozar" for which he was the lead vocalist. His fourth recording "YAREY, La Perfecta Combinacion", combines the great voices of Chamy Solano and worldwide well-known Joe King under the Great Dane Record label.

Definitively the three first ones fulfilled a tenuous assignment of getting the recognition of the public. Where all the hopes resides to his WAY TO SUCCESS, is in the new production " La Perfecta Combinacion ", in which Sal Pérez y Great Dane Records have found the perfect formula to impose once and for all the Band YAREY. With Chamy Solano and Joe King as lead vocals, good music selection, extraordinary musical arrangements and an unbeatable production with all the technical advances in recording industry.

Sal Pérez is considered to be one of the big "Timbaleros" in the genre of the Salsa. Several renowned musicians have been part of his band YAREY such as Bomberito Zarzuela, Junior Vega, Yayo el Indio, Javier Vázquez and Danny Jiménez, between others.

Been born in the picturesque city of Salinas, Puerto Rico, Sal began his musical career after his arrival to New York, in the year 1968 and it was precisely with diverse groups of the time such as Trio San Juan, , with the voice of Paquitín Soto, and Salt was accompanying them on the "Timbales".

In 1969 the deceased singer Felipe Pirelas, incorporates Sal into his band. Then he joins the band of Ramón Rodríguez, who by that time was called "Libertad ".

After his retirement of the "Orquesta Libertad ", he then decides to form his own band, which today is known as YAREY.

 

JOE KING

In the competitive world of Salsa music José Reyes a.k.a shines with proper as a composer, singer, and virtuoso of the trumpet.

Joe King native to Coamo, Puerto Rico, has traveled the entire world with such big stars of the music as Héctor Lavoe, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Tito Nieves, and Marc Anthony between others. Also it has taken part in a large number of recordings, since " Quiero Cantar", " Dejame Vivir" and " Un Tipo Comun " of Tito Nieves, " Otra Nota " of Marc Anthony, " Azucar Negra " and " La Negra Tiene Tumbao " of Celia Cruz, " En Vivo en Birland " of Tito Puente, " Poeta y Guerrero " of Domingo Quiñónez, " Otra Vecindad " and others of Michael Stuart, "Aqui no se sienta nadie" of Ray Barreto, "La Combinacion Perfecta " of RMM, " Otra idea " of Isaac Delgado between others. Also Joe King was the musical director from 1988 up to his farewell of legendary Héctor Lavoe. The same position he later occupies with Tito Nieves.

Joe King does his first recording as singer in his album titled "Doble Sentimiento", in which he also records the trumpets. In this production he manages to put in the first places three of his songs "Si no fueras tu", "Mujer Secreta" and "Dejala Sola". His second production titled "Quedate" was another success for the career of this great Puerto Rican musician who places him in the first positions of the Hispanic radio.

Joe King goes out with his third production titled "Corazon partío" which turned out to be a round success. In this production, the singer expresses his feelings in the language of the music.

In these moments Joe King is joining forces with acclaimed singer Chamy Solano and conductor Sal Pérez of the Orquesta Yarey, producing their new album titled "La Perfecta Combinacion" under the record label Great Dane Record and the executives Serafín García and Frankie Rodríguez.
